Social media is such an incredible powerful tool. You can say the way I found Alex Johnson’s music was pure serendipity. One of my friends posted a video of her friends singing a song that I just happened to watch. After it was over I saw, in the ‘other videos’ section, Alex’s video and I had a gut instinct to watch it. I was completely blown away. It was pure talent. No synths, no auto tune, just him and his guitar. Just watch this 25 second clip of Alex Johnson signing his song “Birds and Bees” and you will know that true talent hasn’t yet faded away.

BAND YOU SHOULD KNOW/ INTERVIEW: SCARS ON 45

  

Scars on 45 is a 6 piece band from Leeds/Bradford, UK and it consist of Danny Bemrose (lead vocals, acoustic guitar), Aimee Driver (vocals),  Stuart Nichols (bass guitar), David “Nova” Nowakowski  (keyboard, piano, backing vocals), and Chris Durling (drums, percussion). Their song “Beauty’s Running Wild” was featured in an episode of CSI: New York, and their song “Hearts On Fire’ was the lead song on Grey’s Anatomy 2011 soundtrack.  They are signed to Atlantic’s Chop Shop Record label, which has been successful in getting previously unsigned bands heard through song placements in popular TV programs. Scars on 45’s first EP, "Give Me Something," was released in January 2011, their second EP “Heart on Fire” was released October 24, 2011.

BAND YOU SHOULD KNOW/ INTERVIEW WITH WAYWARD

Hailing from Reno, Nevada (aka The Biggest Little City) unsigned pop-rockers Wayward is comprised of Chris Stanton (vocals, guitar), Allen Lewis (guitar), Brad Crane (bass), and Paul Curatolo (drums, vocals). They have been breaking into the industry since their first EP in 2009., including being featured on Smartpunk’s Top 10 Unsigned Acts, being crowned Hometown Heroes in the September 2009 issue of Alternative Press Magazine, and recently being featured on Purevolumes homepage for a week.The members believe in building personal relationships with their fans and pride themselves on being reachable and relatable; in doing so there newly released EP, “With Love”, was funded 100% by their fans from around the country. With the fans help they were able to do a full 4-song EP release with Kyle Black in West Hollywood, CA, at the same studio that All Time Low tracked their latest album. They were also able to get the songs professionally mastered by Alan Douches of West West Side Music in NYC (Bayside, Pete Townshend, Fleetwood Mac, etc). Wayward has been trying to get ahold of Pete Wentz (Fall Out Boy, Black Cards, Owner of Decaydance Records) to show him the publicly address letter they wrote for him and shorty after this interview Wentz tweeted Wayward back saying “haha you guys are funny and have dedicated fans- gonna scope when I get home.” Can’t wait to see what happens.

At 26 years young, Mike Ziemer already has 10 years of music promoting under his belt, he got his start at the young age of 16 when he started helping out friends in local bands & writing for a small online magazine.  After successfully putting on his first concert at the age of 18, for some friends in local Dallas suburb bands, he started Third String Productions; where he and his team have been putting on music festivals and concerts in the North Texas area. INTERVIEW DANNY STEVENS OF THE AUDITION

The Audition is one of the hardest working bands out there. Since signing to Victory Records in 2005 they have; released their debut album, Controversy Loves Company, released their second album in January 2008, Champion, released their third album in April 2009, Self-Titled Album, and then they released their latest album, Great Danger, in March 2010. In July of 2010 The Audition announced they were no longer with Victory Records. This September the band announced a lineup change, and plans of recording and releasing a new EP, their first since leaving Victory. A few months ago they started a KickStarter to help with the costs of making the new album, they met and surpassed their goals.
